NEWS ROUNDUP

ACQUISITION: Agile Cold Storage buys industrial portfolio in LA for $55M. Agile Cold Storage has acquired 5601, 5708, and 5876 Alcoa Avenue and 3311 East Slauson Avenue in Vernon, California. The portfolio includes 3 industrial buildings totaling 145,522 SF, along with a vacant land parcel. The seller was Link Logistics. Don Schoenl leads the Agile Cold Storage team.

DISPOSITION: Dedeaux Properties sells cold storage in San Jose, CA for $18M. Dedeaux Properties has sold 1130-1170 Olinder Court in San Jose, California. The facility totals 64,595 SF and is fully leased to Dairyland Produce LLC. The Dedeaux deal team was led by Brett Dedeaux. Rebecca Perlmutter, Darla Longo, and Barbara Perrier with CBRE represented Dedeaux in the transaction. Mindy Bacharach with MLB Real Estate Services represented the buyer.

DISPOSITION: Cushman & Wakefield sells cold storage site on Long Island. Cushman & Wakefield has facilitated the sale of 1 CA Plaza in Islandia, New York. The buyer, Trader Joe’s, plans to build a 921,000 SF cold storage distribution hub on the 68.5 acre property. The seller was Onyx Equities, led by John Saraceno and Jonathan Schultz. The CushWake deal team included Greg Herman, Frank Frizalone, Nicholas Gallipoli, John Giannuzzi, Austin Fitzpatrick, and David Frattaroli.

LEASE SIGNED: Neil Walter Co. leases out cold storage in Tacoma area. Neil Walter Company has facilitated a lease renewal for 7401-7495 26th Street East in Fife, Washington. The property features a 54,000 SF building with 20,000 SF of freezer and cooler space, along with 4.4 acres of industrial outdoor storage (IOS). Nicholas Ratzke and Scott Price with Neil Walter Co. represented the landlord, CenterPoint Properties, in the transaction. The CenterPoint deal team included Weston Payne, Greg Stumm, Evan Lippow, and Bob Andrews. (Interested in IOS? Check out IOS List!)

DEVELOPMENT: Cold storage expansion plans approved in Newark, NJ. Ruggiero Properties has been given the green light to build a 156,000 SF refrigerated warehouse at 414-430 and 436-478 Wilson Avenue and 28-42 Ball Street in Newark, New Jersey. The site is currently the home of the existing Garden State Cold Storage Facility, portions of which will be replaced. Ruggiero Properties was able to secure a zoning variance that will allow the new facility to reach 160 feet tall.

PEOPLE MOVES: Americold Logistics names next CEO. Americold Logistics has announced that Rob Chambers will become its CEO on September 1, following the retirement of George Chappelle. Rob has worked with Americold since September 2013, most recently in the role of President.
